Al-Ja'da plant.. a perennial herbaceous plant that rises about 35 cm, and all parts of the plant are used. Al-Ja'da contains many compounds, the most important of which are alkaloids called Stekadren, Cyasteron, and essential oil. Uses - to treat diabetes. - Beneficial in cases of colitis. - Treatment of malaria. - Boiled fresh leaves help in treating stomach and intestines. - Boiled plant vapor is an antidote for cold and fever, a quarter of a weight of the plant is taken with two cups of water, boiled on the stove, then left until it becomes lukewarm. - For stomach pain, Al-Ja'da is cooked with eggs and eaten. - Boiled or decocted Al-Ja'da is effective for loss of appetite and indigestion, and it is a diuretic and emmenagogue. - Al-Ja'da is used once for a bitter taste to relieve stomach pain from wind.
