The pomegranate shrub reaches a height of up to 6 meters. Its shells contain 25-28% tannin substances. Uses: Pomegranate peels, which contain a large amount of tannins that have astringent properties, are used as a treatment for sore or swollen throats, as well as for dysentery and amoebiasis. There are internal uses including: - Using powdered pomegranate peel mixed with pure honey gives positive results against stomach ulcers, by taking equal amounts of dried pomegranate fruit powder and pure honey, and taking a teaspoon of this mixture three times a day, about a quarter of an hour before meals. - To expel intestinal worms, especially tapeworms, and to treat hemorrhoids, a decoction of pomegranate peel is used at a rate of a teaspoon with a cup of boiling water, left for ten minutes, then strained and drunk 3-4 times a day. External uses: - To increase the fixation of hair color, decocted pomegranate peel is added to henna to fix the color and enhance the coloring process — equal amounts of pomegranate peel and black seed are mixed together in a grinder to form a powder, then placed in a cup of water with a tablespoon of vinegar. This mixture is heated until warm and applied as a light scrub to acne, then washed off with cold water after an hour. The process is repeated daily for a month until the pimples disappear. - Pomegranate peel is used in leather tanning and in fixing dye colors.
